Season's Greetings - Inlaid Die Cutting Technique

Hi Everyone!

I am excited to share with you a card that I made using the InLaid Die Cutting method! This is a technique that is new to me and it is definitely so much fun to make!! The basic premise is when die cutting something, you can use the negative space created to fill it in with the same die (perhaps colored, sponged etc.) so that the area of die cut is flat, but yet has that die cut feel to it - SO Cool!!!

The main challenge is figuring out what comes in the foreground and what is in the background - and so what has to be die cut first and then sequentially - how to build on this with further die cuts. I created a little winter scene using the Little Bits - Fawn die, Evergreens dies, Build A Scene - Rolling Hills die and Stitched Circle Stacklets die. To start off with, I die cut a circle from the Sugar Cube cardstock and then die cut the fawn and smaller evergreen tree from it.

I then die cut the same fawn and tree with colored cardstock and then inlaid it into their respective negative spaces. I also die cut a rolling hill - and then inlaid it with some silver metallic cardstock. After assembling this, I die cut the second larger evergreen tree over the smaller one - so that it would be in the foreground:

I then die cut the larger evergreen tree with a darker cardstock and then inlaid it into its respective groove. I die cut a larger circle to put the smaller circle into and also die cut the Seasons' Greetings Banner die at the top:

I then die cut the banner with Cherry Pop cardstock and inlaid it into its groove and then put everything together:

And then finally to add a little special touch - I added some silver and white Pico embellishment: as dots of snow and as a little embellishment to the hills that I then covered with some silver glitter:

Here is the final result of all the inlaid diecutting - I just love how it is flat but yet has dimension and I am in SHOCK and DISBELIEF that I didn't use any dimensional foam tape on a card!!!  Love this look:

Here is another peek - I love love love love this!

And here is another view of it from the side - see - no foam tape!! But yet - there is such a nice look and feel to this card - love it feels when you run your hand over the card and even though it is flat - you can feel the different places that dies were inlaid into the card:

Card Ingredients:
Taylored Dies: Stitched Circle Stacklets, Evergreen dies, Little Bits - Fawn, Season's Greetings die, Build A Scene Rolling Hills
Premium Cardstock: Chocolate Truffle, Granny Smith, Peapod, Sugar Cube, Salt Water Taffy, Cherry Pop and Metallics Neutrals
Inks: Memento Olive Green and Distress: Broken China
Accessories: sponger, Best Glue Ever, Adhesive Tape Runner, Pico Irresistible Embellisher (Wedding Cake and Silver)

I can't wait to make another card using this technique! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hugs and Season's Greetings!
Sankari :)

Taylored Expressions Dec 2015 Release Day: Roly Poly Panda

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the RELEASE DAY of the December 2015 Release from Taylored Expressions!! Ok, can I just say that this is about the most favorite card that I have ever made!!!!! I was in heaven making this card because of the absolute cuteness of the Roly Poly Panda dies!! Ok Pandas are just adorable!! I wanted to create a Panda Couple and so used this die set to with different shades of black and gray to create two roly poly cutie pies - I also used a couple of different items from this release to create some essential love accessories for this card :)   :

Here is a close up of the little girl Panda - I used the Peek-A-Boo Heart dies for the heart that the Pandas are holding and for the sentiment, I used the Heart of Hearts stamp and combo for botht he heart and the curved sentiment, which I adhered over the Stitched Heart Stacklet - so so so much fun to assemble this:

And here is a close up of the adorable Mr. Cutie!! I had him hold some love balloons from the Love Is An Adventure stamp set that I then paper pieced and colored and then attached under his arm :) isn't he just so cute with his sweet little bow-tie!!

Card Ingredients: Panda Love
Stamps: Heart Of Hearts Combo (sentiment: “I love You” and floral heart stamp) and Love is An Adventure (heart balloons)
Taylored Dies and Folders: Roly Poly Panda dies, Grass Border Die, Stitched Circle Stacklet dies, Love is An Adventure Dies, Peek-A-Boo Heart die (for the hearts that the pandas are holding), Stitched Heart Stacklets
Premium Cardstock:, Salt Water Taffy, Sugar Cube, Earl Grey Tea, Poppy Seed, Cupcake, Granny Smith, Metallic Neutrals, Cookie Monster and Oreo
Paper Pack: TE 6x6 Hello Happiness paper Pack (pink bow and soft pink polka dots)
Accessories: Bling, Foam Tape, Best Glue Ever, Corner Rounder, and Pico Inkessential Shimmer, Copics, Chunky Glitter

I just about fell over with a cuteness overload when my first panda was assembled and then then to have two of them --- ack! so so so cute!! Ok, I will admit that I held one in each hand and then pretended like they were talking to each other!! LOL!! I created a little scene with some Whimsy Grass border and then added a little sentiment to the center and finished it off with some glaze to the Pandas eyes! I just loved loved loved making this card!

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the second day of the December 2015 Release from Taylored Expressions!! All of the stamps and dies that will be released this month are seriously beyond ADORABLE!!! To start today's sneak peek I have a card I made using all dies again with one of the sweetest little set of dies: Roly Poly Fish - this comes with a die for the water in the goldfish bowl, fishies, bubbles and heart die.  I started out by die cutting all the different pieces (the fish from the 6x6 Build a Scene paperpack), the water from Salt Water Taffy cardstock and also used the Embroidery dies to create the outer Goldfish bowl.  I also used the Picture Perfect Valentine for the sentiment: Love You - and I absolutely love the way it turned out:

Here is a close up of the fishes - aren't they the cutest!!!  The background of the goldfish bowl is vellum and I sponged and embossed the water using the Bubbles Embossing Folder for a more "bubbly" look :) and added the heart in the center:

Card Ingredients: Love You
Taylored Dies and Folders: Roly Poly Fish dies, Picture Perfect Valentine die, Embroidery Hoop die and Bubbles Embossing Folder
Premium Cardstock: Poppy Seed, Cherry Pop, Sugar Cube and Salt Water Taffy
Paper Pack: TE 6x6 Build A Scene paper pack (orange DP for the goldfish)
Inks: Memento Rich Cocoa, Bahama Blue

Accessories: Sponge Dauber, Foam Tape, Best Glue Ever, Vellum paper, Pico Inkessential Wedding Cake and stickles

For my second project, I used the Love Always Wins stamp combo with the Love is An Adventure and I just love how cute all of these elements were to put together!! The stamp combo of Love Always Wins comes with this super cute tic-tac-toe die with "X" s"O"s  and and I {heart} You --- I absolutely LOVE how this turned out!!!
