Happy Birthday Cardset

Hi Everyone!

Hope you are enjoying your week! Mine has been Kriz-zazy and its only Monday!! What is it about Mondays anyway? Well, I am hoping this week gets a little smoother but in the meantime, just wanted to share some fun cards that I made using the Plane Awesome stamp set (which comes with a coordinating die!!)So how does that work?

Well, you can stamp your plane image and then color it in and then use the die to cut it out - which is awesome because it cuts out the inside part of the plane that is super hard to cut with scissors - leaving perfectly cut images every time - score! I loved these cute planes that I cut making cards with them!! LOL! I wanted to create a set of birthday cards to have on hand - and the die made it super simple to cut out all the planes - here is what my cardset looks like:

I sponged the clouds and created the top border with the Cloud Edge die and created some grass and the fence border with my MS punches and then used some glitter to spice up the top cloud.  I used the Banner and Blimps dies to create the banners and then colored my planes with copics - here is a closer look at some of the cards:

Card Ingredients:
Stamps: Plane Awesome with Coordinating die from Taylored Expressions
Paper: Snow White Choice Paper and green paper from stash for the grass
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black and Love Letter
Accessories: Cloud Border die and Blimps and Banners dies frrom Taylored Expressions, MS Fence and Grass punch, glitter, copics and dimensionals

I love when I can get into a groove and create a bunch of cards - I am loving this super cute little plane die - seriously so cute! Alright my friends I am off to get ready for the rest of this week - hope yours is super fun! I have some fun exciting news on Friday - so please stop by!

Thanks so much for coming over today!
Ciao for now!

Taylored Expressions January Studio Challenge

Hi Everyone!!

Welcome to the January Taylored Expressions Studio Challenge! Every month we get together and have a theme that we create around and share a little bit about what makes our studios hum. The question for January is:

Helpin' out a newbie!  It's so exciting when a friend discovers the joys of stamping. But do you remember how overwhelming it was to decide what to get when you were new to the craft?
You have a {hypothetical} friend who started stamping less than a year ago and she is loving it!  She has some Christmas money burning a hole in her pocket, and she has seen your fabulous TE creations, so  she is asking for your advice on what stamping supplies to purchase. So let's hear your sage advice!

This is such a fun thing to think about. It made me reminsce about when I first started out I could fit everything into a shoebox!!! HA! That is some craziness!!! I don't think I could fit a shoebox with anymore stuff in my jam packed craft corner - but I still do ;) Talk about being addicted really into papercrafting :D!! So I remember totally being overwhelmed when I first started stamping - partly because I wanted everything everyone was using during blog surfing - but I couldn't figure out what I really needed and would use the most... so here is some advice if you are in the same boat:

Paper:
- I love all the lovely DPs out there - but I think my favorites are the 6x6 paper pads because the print is perfect for making cards, they already coordinate with each other and they don't take up much space like 12x12 papers (but who am I kidding - I like to buys those too :) You can check out the 6x6 papers that Taylor has in the store HERE
Inks:
I love the Memento Ink Pads - they stamp really cleanly and are perfect for coloring with copics (they don't bleed like Stazon. Also the Memento inks come in little dew drop sizes so you don't have to get the really big pads if you want to try out how much you would use a certain color! And if you want to ink up a stamp that is solid - I would recommend some Colorbox Chalk inks - they are so juicy and leave a great impression!Check out all the Ink options at the TE store HERE
Copics:
I remember wanting to get all of them - until I saw the price- WOW! And then I didn't know which ones to get. I am definitely not a copic expert - but someone gave me really good advice that helped alot - they told me to get the colors of the things that you color the most instead of getting a ton of colors that you probably wont' use - for example, if you like coloring cupcakes - definitely get some pinks and browns and then go from there. If you are getting a color - get shades a little lighter and darker than that color to help with shading - but here is a warning - copics are highly addictive!! Check out all the copics at the store HERE
Dies:
You definitely want a die cutting machine - because you are definitely going to want to cut out all the different variety of die shapes out there! It's always good to have the basic shapes (squares, circles, scallops, etc.) but also all the label stacklets that Taylor has just started releasing - AND alot of the sets also come with coordinating dies - and that makes the cutting so much easier (even for someone who loves to cut out stamps like me :))) Check out all the Taylored Dies HERE
Stamps:
Well - I love love love my Taylored Expressions stamps - all die cut, super cute and awesome - and deeply etched pink rubber that creates the perfect image every time!!! I always think I have a favorite - but its hard to pink one stamp set - I want them all!!!
Storage:

One of the problems of having a small stamp space is storage - so I am always trying to find good storage options. One of the best storage systems for holding all my TE stamps have been the TE Storage binders - which snaps shut so none of the little stamps can escape and become lost in my scraproom - and one of the best ways to organize my dies has been the Magnetic Binder Box Inserts which can fit right into one of the storage binders - I have been loving organizing all of my dies in one place with these magnetic inserts - GENIUS I tell ya!!! You can check out this video where Taylor explains how these inserts works HERE.

Those are just some general things - but I thought I could share some specific products. Say you are someone who already has all the basic tools like: a paper trimmer, some good cutting scissors, a die-cutting machine, some acrylic blocks and a few shape dies d(like the circle nesties) - I thought I could share some of my"must haves" - all of which went to create these two cards:

I used the Sweet Sunday Sketch 175 for making these two cards - what a fun layout! I started out by using the Beary Special stamp set and made one more for a little boy and the other for a little girl. I used papers from the Simple Stories paper pad (6x6) Snap Life and stamped my images on to the Choice Snow White cardstock which is a must have for copic coloring! I wanted to keep everything simple - so I used two sheets of DP and cut them out to fit the A2 card - and the remaining pieces I cut in the banner shape using my Banner Stacklets - and so the cards are almost the same but have the opposite DPs for the layout. Iinked the little bears in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with copics and then paper pieced the ears and the little paws :)

I wanted to add a little bit of hearts in the corner - so I used some large eyelets to wind some Bakers Twine through and added some hearts to them with some pearls in the middle - here is a closer look:

Card Ingredients:
Stamps:  Beary Special stamp set from Taylored Expressions
Paper:  Choice Snow White cardstock and Simple Stories paper pad (6x6) Snap Life
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Copics: For the pink Bear ( here is the link for the RV family) RV01, RV04 and for the blue bear (here is the link for the BG family) BG 11, 13 and 15
Accessories: Spellbinders Circle dies, Banner Stacklets, mini heart punch, Baker's Twine,, Pearls and dimensionals

Say you have a budget of $60 that you are burning to spend at the store - Here are all my must haves that I used on this card:

$5.19 Memento Tuxedo Black  Ink
$4.50 Choice Snow White (essential for copics) comes with 20 sheets - a total deal!!
$26.95 Banner Stacklets - I love these for sentiments and for card layouts - and you might think - eh, I can just cut it out myself - but when you are making a lot of cards - the best thing is that you can just run it though the die machine and allthe angles and dimensions will be perfect everytime - I have been using this die alot lately - love how it works!
$25.00 Dimensional Foam Tape 1/16" - at first I wasn't sure because it seemed like a lot of money - but trust me - this is one of my most favorite products - I go through this like I eat chocolate!! It is so worth the money - and you don't have to worry about running out anytime soon - and you cna cut it ot the lenght that you need - and it is such a great size thickness - awesome awesome awesome!!!

I hope that some of this has been helpful - I can't wait to see what the rest of the design team has in store for us with the studio challenge - please hop with me and check them out:
Thanks so much for stopping by today!!!
Big hugs,
Sankari :)

Hostess with the Mostess!

Hi Everyone,

This is my last month as a DT member of the Splitcoast Dirty Dozen - what an amazing 6 months its been - it really has gone by so fast! I kept thinking that February was my last month and was getting sad that it was almost over - SO you can imagine my total surprise when I found out that it was actually this month!!!  Math was never my strong suit! I couldn't quite believe it when Lydia asked me to join - and now I can't believe that its my last month there :( - how fast time flies!

Each month SCS has a challenge theme that the DT creates cards for (you can check them all out as a fan member of SCS) and also everyone can participate in the challenge. This month's theme is "Dirty Laundry"! You can interpret that in so many ways - from clothesline images, to what colors are in your laundry basket right now, etc. For my card today - I chose the sweet little apron stamp from the What's Cookin'? stamp set paper pieced from the Pebbles (Walnut Grove 6x6 paper pad ) from  Taylored Expressions. I usually wear an apron when I am cooking because I am definitely a messy cook :) and almost always something gets on my clothes - so for the Dirty Laundry theme - I thought about using something that gets dirty when I cook - but keeps me clean ;)

I kept the layout pretty simple and paper pieced the whole apron with yellow cardstock and then paper-pieced the bottom of the apron with the DP and then popped up the pocket stamp (which is colored with copics) over the floral pattern - and then snuck in the spatula stamp into one of the pockets :) I added some scallops on the top and then one on the side and added some lines of ribbon with a little flower in the center. Here is a more of a close up of the card:

Card Ingredients:
Stamps: What's Cookin'? stamp set from Taylored Expressions
Paper: Walnut Grove (6x6) from Pebbles and Snow White Cardstock from TE
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black and Teal Zeal
Accessories: Banner Stacklet dies from Taylored Expressions, EK Success scallop border punch, red satin ribbon (thin), Fairytale Rose, Waterfall stickles, copics and dimensionals

I loved creating this card - it was so much fun to stamp and paper piece and get some fun stamp therapy in! This week has been exceptionally busy and I am so happy that I got a little relaxation in my crafty corner :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!
Big hugs!
Sankari :)

Taylored Expressions January Spotlights: Hugs & Kisses

Hi Everyone,

Today we are having the last day of spotlight hops for the January Release of Taylored Expressions! For my project today, I am using the darling stamp set: Hugs & Kisses which has such sweet little heart stamps or "xoxo" stamps that you can fill it with! I decided to fill mine with the little heart and used the Valentine's Day Project Pantry for all of my papers:

Card Ingredients:
Stamps: Hugs & Kisses from Taylored Expressions
Papers: Valentine's Day Project Pantry from Taylored Exprssions
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black and Ladybug Red - and copics
Accessories: All three layering Doily's Set of 3, circle punches and Spellbinders, Heart Border die from TE, scallop punch and border punch from EK success, blue bling and red grosgrain ribbon

I layered my jar of hearts onto all three layering Doilys (love this set - you can check it out here: Layering Doilys set of three). I love that the middle layering doily has hearts around it and also used the Heart Border die to add more hearts :) I wonder how many hearts are on this card! lol! This is such a sweet stamp set - and I love that you can add whatever you would like on the inside!

Can't wait to see all the creations from all of my TE peeps - please hop over with me and check them out here:
Thank you so much for stopping by today!
It is almost Friday! Woohoo!
Have a wonderful day :)

Taylored Expressions January Spotlights: Happy Spring and XOXO!!!

Hi Everyone!

Yesterday, Taylor released a whole bunch of yummy goodies and today the design team is doing some fun spotlight hops to show case the newly released stamp sets! Today, I am showing samples from two super super cute sets called: "Oh What a Holiday" and "Stuck on You"! So cute!!

My first card uses the "Oh What a Holiday" set (which is perfect for all the holidays through the year with sentiments to match!) Love it! I used the sweet little bunny for my card with the sentiment "Happy Spring" - as much as I am enjoying the winter (said with just a touch of sarcasm) - I am truly looking forward to spring - one of my favorite seasons (the favorite one being autumn). I used the Love Tree die that I showed on yesterday's post and created little spring leaves for the tree and put it behind the little bunny (don't you want to sing... "little bunny foo foo " now :)

I used the Banner Stacklet dies to create my sentiment hanging off to a side - I also popped up my tree and bunny - here is a closer peek at the dimensions:

Card Ingredients:
Paper: Scraps of green, brown and pink cardstock and Choice Snow White paper
Stamps: Oh What a Holiday from Taylored Expressions
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black and Bamboo Leaves
Accessories: Banner Stacklet dies, Love Tree dies, MS grass punch, corner chomper, copics, dimensionals

It really felt so refreshing to create a spring card - and I love that this image could be used for easter, birthdays or to weclome spring - love this sweet bunny!! And speaking of sweet little animals - check out the sweetest Hedgehog in the Stuck on You stamp set - seriously - seriously - SOOOO cute!! So cute, that I made 5 little notecards using the Scalloped Notecard die that Taylored released yesterday to create 5 little mini Valentine's for my little nieces and nephews - here they are all in a line:
And because I couldn't decide which picture I like better - here is another one of them :
I cut out the notecards using the die and then started a little factory - stamping and cutting the little sweet hedgehog, creating a sky background, cutting all the grass and the string of hearts (which is a stamped image from the set) - I then added a little twine and glitter to heart balloon as a finishing touch - and the whole time I was making this project, I was SOOOO happy and in love with this little cutie - here is a little close up !

Card Set Ingredients:
Paper: Choice Snow White paper and some green cardstock for grass
Stamps: Stuck On You stamp set from Taylored Expressions
Inks: Memento Love Letter and Tuxedo Black, copics
Accessories: twine, glitter, dimensionals, Scalloped Notecard die from Taylored Expressions and corner chomper

I loved making all of these fun cards with these sweet little animals -  Please check out all the awesome spotlight hops from all of the wonderful ladies here:
And would love it if you hopped by tomorrow for more samples and fun!

January Release Day: Love Tree dies!

      Good Morning Everyone,

Today is the release of all the new stamps, dies, project pantries and yummy goodies from Taylored Expressions! WooHOOO!

For today's project, I am SO excited to show you a card with no stamping! Just all dies! Today, Taylor will be releasing the cutest little dies called Love Tree - which is made up the sweetest little tree with hearts for leaves and the sentiment love! : I tried to go for the CAS style (the hardest style that I have ever encountered!) and keep everything monochromatic :) I love the way cream and white go together and so I made the base and cut the sentiment and tree from Choice Buttercream and created a mat with Choice Snow White. I die cut the tree and added a little bit of glitter to the heart leaves with a little bit of glitter on the sentiment - I love how this turned out - and I can't wait to create more!

To kind of pop up the tree and sentiment, I cut out the trees, and sentiment 4 times and stacked them up together so that they would stick up a little bit more - here is a close up of the stacking for the dies:

      Card Ingredients:
Paper: Choice Snow White and Choice ButterCream cardstock
Accessories: Love Tree dies, corner chomper, Heart punch (mini), MS Grass punch, EK success border punch, red grosgrain ribbon

I love this sweet die - and its perfect for Valentine's day, anniversaries, friendship or just because! AND I love that you can mix the dies with stamps and and cut out the sentiment with the coordinating papers in the card you are making - love it! There are so many stamps and dies that are being sneak peeked today to celebrate Release Day - please check them out all of these talented ladies here today:
Tomorrow - we are having some fun spotlights - would love it you would hop by!
Thanks so much for  stopping by today!
      Ciao for now!

Taylored Expressions January Sneak Peek: Bless your Nest & Cupid's Arrows

      Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the Taylored Expressions 2013 Release Week Celebration! Today we are kicking of the first release of the new year with some super sweet sneak peeks!! I had so much fun stamping with these cute images and dies! Today I have two projects to share - one from the stamp set Bless Your Nest (isn't that a sweet name?!) and the second from the stamp set called: Cupid's Arrows - both designed by the sweet Nancy McKinney. I love that both of these stamps have dies that coordinate with the stamps - the possibilities drive my brain into a dizzy state!

This first card is from the Bless Your Nest stamp set - and it uses the coordinating Bless Your Nest dies from Taylored Expressions. I sponged some clouds and then stamped the tree branch onto the sky and popped up the stamped nest onto part of the branch. The sentiment was cut out with a circle nestability with some punched out hearts at the top and then I added a corner on the bottom of the stamped image with the same DP as the top of the card and then added some ribbon on the side with a sprig of roses tied with twine with the little bird from the stamp set on the middle of the twine bow:

Here is a close up of the image - I loved creating some felt eggs (check out all the awesome colors of felt that Taylor has: Taylored Wool Felt) in the nest - I double stacked each egg so that it would pop out more in the nest:

      Card Ingredients:
Paper: My Mind's Eye, Choice Snow White from Taylored Expressions
Stamps: Bless Your Nest stamp set from Taylored Expressions
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Bahama Blue and Teal Zeal
Accessories: Bless Your Nest coordinating dies from Taylored Expressions, Prima roses, twine, circle spellbinders, satin ribbon, pearls, heart punches, Taylored Wool Felt and dimensionals.

This is such a sweet stamp set - with sentiments perfect for a new baby, a new home, birthday or just because :) For my second project, I created a card using the new Cupid's Arrow stamp set - SO cute! I love the little quiver with the arrows and the seriously cute Cupid's Arrows Dies that coordiante just perfectly with this set or any other stamp set! Most of the time when I am making a card, I usually don't have a plan, I just start stamping with an image that catches my eye and then go from there - and it was like that with this card - I LOVED the quivers and so I started there and cut out the white space near the arrows and then kept using the die cuts I was making using the coodinating dies and it was fun putting this card together - kind of like a puzzle :) All the papers and ribbon are from the Valentine's Day Project Pantry (which features papers from the Bo Bunny Love Letters Collection):
I stamped the bow image and then poked some holes to string some baker's twin throw to create the "string" part of the bow (as you can see, I am very technical when it comes to my archery :) lol!) I then added a heart and arrow (with a little bit of gloss)  by using the coordinating dies :

I love the different hearts that are in the dies - so many options to choose from - I cut out two of the long skinny hearts and put them side to side (blue and pink representing my DH and moi :)and added some gloss to them also. The target I stamped with both both red and pink inks and then popped up the pink circle onto the target that was popped up to a circle punched out of blue paper:

And my most favorite part of this card is the quiver - I LOVED stamping it and then coloring it with copics. The area around the arrows were cut out and I also cut out the strappy part of it (is that what it's called? handles? the hanging thingy? and then put it over flag sentiment that I cut out using the Banner Stacklets (perfect for banners and sentiments - woohoo!) And I also added a wee bit of glitter to the heart and some gloss to the quiver and some bling to the bottom scalloped edge:

The Valentine's Day Project Pantry comes with all the coordinating cardstock you will need to create easy and fun projects and it also comes with the sweetest and fun coordinating ribbon - it was so hard to choose which ribbon I wanted to use for the card that I decided why choose!! lol! I put an eyelet on the corner of the DP and then threaded the ribbon from them to create a corner ribbon treatment:

      Card Ingredients:
Stamps: Cupid's Arrow from Taylored Expressions
Paper: Valentine's Day Project Pantry (containing Bo Bunny DP (Love Letters), Bazzill)
Ink: Memento Love Letter, Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Cupid's Arrows Dies from Taylored Expressions, Copic Markers, Corner Rounder, Ribbon from the Valentine's Day Project Pantry, Eyelets, dimensionals, bling, Glossy Accents and Spellbinders Circle dies.

Verve Divas Inspiration Hop - January 2013

      Hi Everyone,

Welcome to our January Diva Inspirations Hop!  Today the Divas are dusting off some Verve favorites and putting on our monthly hop to inspire you with a fresh new spin on the stamps in our stash! So grab a drink and hop along as we share a little Verve with you! There's a great little prize involved, too! A random commenter on one of the hops will win a $30 gift certificate to VERVE, so be sure to leave a little love in the comment section as you hop about! You can find out all the prize details over on the Verve Blog today.

For my project today I used the darling stamp set: Sweet Valentine to create a little valentine's day card using some vellum and some EP Your's Truly papers. I love this happy font - the swirls and the hearts are just so sweet! I adhered the two background papers (the red/white and the gray papers) and then cut out a circle in the middle with my spellbinders. I then turned the circle around so that the gray side was down and then popped it up over the cut circle area and added the sentiment "happy valentine's day" on top of that. The stamps were cut and popped up again over the sentiment:
I also stamped the larger joined hearts on vellum paper and then outlined the heart shapes with a white gel pen and then attached them around the sentiment and one at the bottom. I added a line of scallops at the top and then penned a line of faux stitching with the gel pen. Here is another angle of the card:

All of Julee's creations are so lovely - and stay tuned there is some New Verve on the way to ring in the New Year!!! I really enjoy going back and stamping my older Verve sets and I can't wait to see what all sets and creations these lovely ladies have used in their projects today! Please hop with me and check them out!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

In the directions of your dreams...

      Happy New Year Everyone!

The quietness of the snow over the city creates a quietness in my heart and as another new year dawns - it is always a time of introspection and reflection. I have been taking in some deep breaths - putting together all the pieces that were 2012 - trying to heal, move on and take the lessons I have learned (and still have to learn) into this new year.

Ringing in the new year this time was different - it was both another day and at the same time there is always the feeling as if the slate is being wiped clean and there is a renewed chance to "get it right" this time. I didn't write any resolutions, who am I kidding to think that I could make it a year sticking to a resolution (let alone a list of resolutions :) Instead - I took a deep breath of gratitude in and breathed out my own anxieties and worries... and that is all I can do everyday: Treat every day like a new year, a new dawn... breathing in gratitude for the chance to "get it right" every single moment of every single day and breathing out worries and anxieties.....  It was really healing to do this and I am feeling a bit of lightness...

So instead of the point value resolutions - I am trying to remember to be true to my dreams and goals and to live the life that I have always imagined: "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined." by Henry David Thoreau. This is one of my favorite sentiments in the New Beginnings stamp set from Taylored Expressions - I love this set - the sentiments are so positive and I love that flower is both closed and open for your coloring/stamping desires :) I created a card using this sentiment and kept it monochromatic (except for the green ;) - orange feels like a happy burst of sunshine to start the new year with :)

I liked this card so much, that I created another one Here are the two together:

But this time I added some glitter to the rose - but afterwards, I wasn't so sure if I liked the glitter rose... I mean don't get me wrong, I LOVE me some glitter - but sometimes, maybe less is more? Yikes! Did I really say that? Me who loves adding layers and layers and layers till the card weighs 40 lbs!! It's fun to create duplicates of cards and add something to one and then just step back and look to see which one you like better....

      Card Ingredients:
Paper: Orange Bazzil cardstock, Choice Snow White cardstock, Victorian Garden DP from Echo Park
Stamps: New Beginnings stamp set from Taylored Expressions
      Inks: Tangelo from Memento Inks
Dies: Frame it Up 1 die, Labels Stacklets 3 and  Leafy dies from Taylored Expressions

Accessories: Swiss Dot embossing folder, Spellbinders, pearls, satin orange ribbon, corner chomper and dimensionals.

It was so nice to sit back in my craft space this morning and just craft a little in silence :) Grateful to this wonderful community that constantly inspires my with all the creativity that is out there and the amazing and wonderful blogging friends that constantly make me smile with their beautiful blogs, posts and texts! Grateful to start this new year with you!

Live the life you have always imagined! Go confidently in the direction of your dreams!
      Happy New Year everyone!
Thank you for stopping by today!
